I have been studying shifts and evolution in behavior in Fashion, Beauty and Sex roles for the past 4 years and these are the following 5 trends I have been tracing:
‘Absolute Individualism’ is a Trend about mankind becoming a global village that ignores all boundaries, where individual difference is the common point of connection between civilians. It is about craving for difference and a place in the sun within a huge competition now extended to a worldwide level. This Trend affects all areas from arts, lifestyle and brands.
‘Gynoid vs Android’ is a female Trend about woman’s need for new apparel shapes after thousands of years of bipolar oscillations between straight and hourglass figures, as the new era of sexual equality approaches – when women’s finantial power will overtake men’s – and Architecture shapes will gain significance over these sexualy-drived semiotics.
‘Our body is our edge’ is a Trend about sculpting our bodies and give them the power to emerge from ages of obscurity and give clothes shape, instead of its previous submissive condition where it was molded by stiff and ‘packaging’ garments. Our body is now the main character and it cannot lie, because its boudaries are totally exposed and vulnerable – just like media make us feel.
‘Long live the beauty’ is a Generation X Trend about its perspective about the pursuit of youth, which has now been extended to a pursuit of longevity on youthfulness, influenced by a growing average life expectancy and science promises about having extended time and medicine tricks that will one day make us redefine life stages and ageing concept.
‘Fashion +
Architecture’ is a Trend about merging several layers of dwelling that involve each human being like overlapped epidermis, such as clothes, transportation, apartments, community shelters… imagination can make us rethink boundaries and human scale up to buildings and sky-scratchers. 9 billions will make us resize space and redefine proxemia.
